A subdivision of Family Ski Company 'The Cosy Bar and Restaurant' is a vibrant and atmospheric ski bar which is located at the very heart of a beautiful Alpine village.  We are searching for a Manager who will lead a team of bar and kitchen staff to deliver excellent customer service, quality freshly produced food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Key duties of role

  • To have overall responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the bar/restaurant.

  • To effectively manage, direct and support the team of bar/restaurant staff. Including maintaining positive team morale, ensuring staff compliance with safety/hygiene/ fire and access standards and planning and managing rotas for staff.

  • To provide excellent customer service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere

  • To quality control all aspects of the business to ensure that standards of customer service are being upheld in all areas.

  • To take responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the bar and terrace - either resolving maintenance issues within the team or referring to the Director of Operations. Responsible for ensuring that the outside terrace is clear of snow as a priority.

  • To undertake regular stock checks and to respond to over stocked product and under stocked product in a timely and effective way. Ensure stock rotation procedures are in place and that stock is stored correctly.

  • To proactively respond to the weather and to fluctuations in tourist numbers - as per the bar’s weather and timing strategy

  • To oversee accurate cashing-up procedures and ensure all necessary paperwork is complete. Work with the Operations Assistant to process all paperwork relating to the Bar/ Restaurant.

  • To oversee the planning and implementation of a regular schedule of events and promotions.

  • To be proactive in identifying service improvements including cost-controls and to seek new income generating streams.

  • To report on performance to Directors when required

Person specification

The Bar Manager is expected to be an approachable, responsible and diplomatic leader.

The position involves a great deal of organisation and planning whilst at the same time daily contact with customers and the bar team, so strong people management skills and leadership ability combined with excellent customer service skills are essential.

  • A confident leader who can keep calm under pressure with an energetic and positive outlook

  • Proven experience in a bar managerial role is essential

  • Experience of the hospitality industry and in providing excellent customer service

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • To be proactive and to have excellent problem solving ability

  • Excellent French and English language is essential

Other information

  • It is required that you hold a full EU Driving Licence, a UK National Insurance number, UK bank account, and an EU passport.

  • We require you to be available from November 2017 - May 2018

  • The role will report to the Director of Operations and Operations Manager, who are based in the resort
