The benefits of taking a course prior to your season are obvious. You will be more confident in cooking for large groups (you might end up cooking for 15 or 20 people), and will be better equipped to attain the level of quality expected by your employer.

If you attend a course specifically for training chalet staff you will get to know about the potential mishaps involved with the difference in cooking time for eggs for example (even when they are in a cake). Cooking for large numbers, often in a small kitchen, takes some getting used to and a course can just take the edge off the nerves when presented with it for the first time. Season It Cookery is a well established chalet cookery school based at our own 4 star Chalet Pomet in the French Alps. The tutors are friendly and fun seasonnaires themselves and excellent chefs who have fail proof recipes to teach you that will impress even the most discerning guests.

You’ll also stay at 4 star Chalet Pomet where you can enjoy all of our facilities including our hot tub overlooking the mountains.

Our courses are great for singles and couples of all ages, it’s very practical with plenty of cooking time for each student as we only have a maximum of 8 students per course with two tutors. We are just an hour from Geneva airport served by the low cost airlines.

Established by experienced Alpine seasonnaires, The Hive Cookery School runs one and two week courses, training apsiring chalet hosts to be the best in the business. Courses are based in a typical Alpine chalet near Les Arcs, in the French Alps, and run throughout July, August and September.

Each curiculum covers everything you need to know to run a chalet efficiently and confidently, whilst teaching you the essential organisational skills to enable you to maximise your mountain time during your season.

Our chalet host based cookery course in the Alps is more than just a cookery course or chalet host course. This week long course is ideal for anyone looking to develop their skills in the kitchen, if you intend to work a winter season, are completing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and are looking for a fun residential course, are heading off to university or want to add additional weight to your CV and improve your chances of getting the job you want. This cookery course in the Alps has been carefully designed to develop a number of key skills which will prove invaluable when working a ski season and as you move forward in your life. Knowing your way around a kitchen is part of this, however we spend time on developing invaluable life skills such as working effectively within a team, leadership, communication, managing difficult situations and developing your own personal brand.
