Background information on
Herm Island is located just three miles off Guernsey in the Channel Islands, and measures just a mile and a half long and half a mile wide.
A beautiful Island which is home to a seal colony, puffins, seabirds, the best beaches in the British Isles, great caves to explore, and a great Island community. We are also only 20 minutes away from Guernsey, an Island with 60,000 inhabitants, and all the benefits of a major UK town. As an employee of Herm Island, you will receive heavily subsidised travel to and from Guernsey, but it is always good to get back to the peace of Herm.
Many of our staff return year after year, and so you will find that some senior roles are taken by those who have started a few seasons ago, and have grown into the responsibility of the role. This also creates a good foundation for seasonal staff in their first season on Herm, as there is plenty of support and willingness to help from those who have been here before. Each of the Island businesses have qualified as a World Host business, offering outstanding customer service at all levels.
If you are about to embark on a working visa trip around Europe, or if you simply want to work away from home on a sun drenched paradise Island which is less than an hour away from the UK, but only 16 miles away from France, then Herm Island may well be the ideal location. We look for couples, friends and individuals either with good experience or with drive, determination and character to work in our teams.
In addition to the wonderful environment and friendly community we offer good hourly pay and a rewards scheme to all of our staff. Every week all seasonal employees accumulate a bonus which is paid out on completion of the season.
The Four Star White House Hotel is a country House Hotel with 40 bedrooms, and two restaurants. The conservatory restaurant has two rosettes and serves up to 100 covers per evening, and the ship bar and restaurant is a more informal Brasserie style restaurant. Locally caught Seafood and shellfish are prevalent in both restaurants.
The Mermaid Tavern is an informal bar, restaurant with a very busy outside dining area, along with a function area featuring Theatre cooking in street food pans. The Black Rock Grill restaurant is also very popular with visitors to the Island, serving fabulous steak and seafood dishes.
The gift shops are well stocked with many holiday favourites, toys, gifts and souvenirs, along with fashionable branded clothing and accessories.
There are 20 Holiday Cottages on the Island, which are very popular with returning and first time guests.
