Disaster Relief efforts begin in Fiji

Tropical Cyclone Winston, which struck the Fijian islands on February 20th 2016, has left a trail of destruction in its wake. The storm is the most powerful ever to hit Fiji and has claimed at least 43 lives and damaged or destroyed thousands of homes.

Projects Abroad has reached out to local authorities to initiate a Disaster Relief Project, which will focus on rebuilding schools and homes in and around Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki. The primary goal of the project is to help restore a safe learning environment for children. Although the Fijian government is doing everything they can to return the children to a normal school environment, there is still a great deal of work to be done to ensure that the schools children come back to are safe and welcoming places. This is where your help is needed most.

As our disaster relief efforts progress, we will also be expanding the project to include rebuilding homes damaged by the tropical cyclone.

You can find out further information about this project by visiting the Projects Abroad website or by contacting us directly.
