Thousands of airline passengers are now stuck in Thailand after protesters siezed control of Bangkok’s international airport.

Bangkok airport has had to close as protesters from the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have taken control of all facilities including the air traffic control towers. All flights in and out have obviously been cancelled and the airport is closed until further notice. TVs have all been switched to gardening channels so travellers are not given information about the chaos.

Foreign Office advice: "The political situation in Thailand is very uncertain. If you are in Thailand you should keep yourself informed of developments, including by regularly checking this advice and the media. If you plan to visit Thailand you should consider the present situation when making your decision. You should exercise caution, avoiding any demonstrations or large gatherings of people."
